Spring is in the Air at the White Turpin House!

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to say hi and let you all know that Spring is in the air at the White Turpin House in Natchez, Mississippi!  I have an amazing "flower lady" and she has the most beautiful variety of flowers blooming at the house right now.  I can't tell you how many people stop me to comment on the flowers draping over the wall facing Jefferson Street and it is amusing to see those passing by in their cars craning their necks backward to look as they pass!  I am attaching a few pictures of some of the flowers to this e-mail, but for those on Facebook, I also have a White Turpin House B&B business page on there with LOTS more.  If anyone wants to visit and book the house while the flowers are still vibrant, give me a call at 318-452-8356.  Everything is so pretty, you have complete privacy in the 3 BR/2Bath house, it is just a few steps across the street to King's Tavern Restaurant, AND you get complimentary breakfast from the Natchez Coffee Co. either delivered or you can eat in their nearby restaurant.  And those are just a few of the amenities!

Spring Pilgrimage is just wrapping up in Natchez and I am excited to say that the house is/was booked for every weekend in April and May, including some week days!  So many tourists flocked to Natchez to see our beautiful antebellum homes!  Things are slowing down now with the whirlwind of tour buses gone, but the coming months would still be a great time to visit.  The Vidalia, La. side of the river just celebrated Easter on the Riverfront for the first time and it was a great success.  April 29 - May 1 is the Natchez Bluff Blues Festival that kicks off the Natchez Festival of Music which celebrates opera, Broadway, and jazz and is for the whole month of May.  The Symphony of Gardens Tour is May 6th & 7th and showcases some of the most beautiful gardens in Natchez.  Lots of summer activities encompass the months of June, July, and August from patriotic themes to closing out the summer with the Natchez Food and Wine Festival in August.  In September, the Natchez Little Theatre presents "Big River" and our Fall Pilgrimage tour of homes begins and rolls over into the month of October.  October also ushers in the excitement of the Great Mississippi River Balloon Races which is one of the most sought after weekends in Natchez.  The White Turpin House is already booked for an entire week surrounding this festival, so if you want a room in Natchez for that weekend, move quickly!!!  November is the month for our amazing "Angels on the Bluff" tour where local actors and descendants reenact highlights from the lives of notable people buried in the beautiful Natchez City Cemetery.  Patrons walk the lantern lined paths at dusk and stop along the way to hear and watch fascinating portrayals of past residents.  This 2 to 3 day event fills up quickly!  December brings cooler weather and the celebration of "Christmas in Natchez".  Downtown streets are lined with old-fashioned decorations, lights, and a huge Christmas tree that stands watch over the middle of Main Street.  Area homes, including the White Turpin House, are decked out in their most colorful Christmas refinery.  Porch lights left on all over the city create a welcoming glow to visitors who pass by and puts us all in the mood to watch "A Natchez Christmas Carol" at the Natchez Little Theare.  January and February lead us into New Year's, Valentine's, Mardi Gras, and Black History Month celebrations.  During Mardi Gras, there are several parades, balls, and celebrations presented by the local krewes for adults and children alike.  Which brings us full circle back to the Spring months of March and April to begin it all over again!  The events I listed are just a few, so I hope that you will find an interest in one or several of our yearly celebrations and join us in Natchez- hopefully at the White Turpin House!!!

Finally, I would like to thank all of you who have actually stayed at the White Turpin House during my first year of business.  I can honestly say that ALL of my guests have been absolutely amazing and I am so appreciative and feel so blessed to be doing what I do!  A lot of you know that the White Turpin House belonged to my gggg-grandfather, White Turpin- the first sheriff of Adams County- and that my love of Natchez, family history, the house, and sharing it all with others has become my new calling.  I hope that if you haven't yet been one of my first time or return guests, that you will come to visit soon!

Thanks!
